Appraisal FAQ

How do the matrix code and release details establish a CD edition and market?

Photograph the disc face, matrix code, back-cover catalogue number, record company and country-of-release printing. A cover photograph alone is not enough.

How should a missing obi, booklet or original case be documented?

List each accessory that remains, then photograph disc scratches, oxidation and any cracked case. Do not mix in accessories from another edition.

When does a CD require physical inspection?

Physical inspection is required when photographs cannot confirm the matrix code, scratch depth, oxidation, playback or readability, or accessory pairing, or when the disc and packaging details conflict. Identify the unresolved point first.

Should a larger CD group be reviewed in store or on site?

The arrangement depends on the number of CDs and boxes, location and handling conditions. Provide an album list and edition photographs before agreeing the most suitable method.
