Basic Requirements for Red Wine buyback

  1. Ullage: Into Neck is best; Top Shoulder is acceptable; Mid-shoulder or below requires individual assessment, slightly lower levels are permitted for very old wines (30+ years).
  2. Storage Conditions: Wines stored in temperature-controlled (12-14°C) and humidity-controlled (70-80% RH) cellars/wine cabinets receive priority valuation. Wines stored at room temperature at home or near heat sources require on-site inspection.
  3. Label Condition: Yellowing, mold spots, torn labels, and condensation marks (if the wine has been removed from a wine cabinet and stored at room temperature) will affect pricing.
  4. Original Wooden Case (OWC): Complete cases of 6 or 12 bottles, with the winery's brand, vintage, and wine type imprinted on the wooden case, can add 5-15% to the value.
  5. Large Formats: The per-milliliter price for 1.5L Magnum, 3L Double Magnum, 6L Imperial, and 12L Balthazar is usually 30-150% higher than for 750ml bottles.

Quick Answer: How are these items valued?

Red wine buyback primarily depends on the winery, vintage, wine condition, origin, and storage records. For First Growths, famous Burgundy estates, high-value Pomerol wines, and DRC series, it's best to provide original cases, invoices, or cellar records for a more accurate initial quote.

Winery & Vintage Lafite, Latour, Mouton, Margaux, Pétrus, DRC, etc., will be graded by vintage.
Condition & Provenance Ullage, label, cork, wooden case, and proof of purchase will influence buyer confidence.
Market Reference We benchmark against Hong Kong spot prices, auction records, and recent transactions, not just online listings.

Common FAQs

Which red wine brands do you buy back?

We primarily buy back top-tier red wines such as the Bordeaux First Growths (Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, Haut-Brion), Burgundy's DRC series, and Petrus. We also welcome inquiries about products from other renowned wineries.

I've stored red wine at home for several years. Does it still have any resale value?

As long as the storage conditions are appropriate—constant temperature of 12-16°C, humidity of 65-75%, away from light, and stored horizontally—red wine can still have good resale value even after many years. We will check the fill level and cork condition to assess its preservation.

Will mold or water stains on the label affect the quote?

Slight mold is a normal occurrence in cellar storage and can even be a sign of good storage conditions. However, severely damaged or illegible labels may affect the quote by 5-15%.

What information do I need to provide if I want to sell my red wine?

Please WhatsApp 94530784 with clear photos of the front label, back label, and bottom of the bottle. It's best to also include information on the vintage and bottle size. Original wooden cases are a plus.

When will I receive payment after the transaction is completed?

Payment will be settled immediately after the in-person wine inspection. We support cash, FPS (Faster Payment System), and bank transfer, with transactions completed in as little as 15 minutes.
