Confirm the Equipment and Access Conditions First
Audio equipment varies widely in size, weight and the way it must be disconnected. Before arranging an inspection or move, confirm the brand, model, quantity and operating condition, together with the floor, lift access and parking conditions at the site.
- Photograph the front, rear panel, model plate and cable connections
- State whether the equipment powers on and whether there is unusual noise or any missing part
- Measure the approximate dimensions and list the original remote controls, power cables, stands or packaging
- Photograph the access route, stairs, doorway width and lift
Limits of Disconnection and Moving
Do not force the equipment to power on, dismantle it or cut any cables before the arrangements are confirmed. Large speakers, turntables and valve equipment require a moving plan based on the items and site conditions. Whether a vehicle can be arranged, and on what terms, is confirmed only after the information has been reviewed.
- Keep original cartons and shock-absorbing materials
- Protect cartridges, valves and glass components separately
- Photograph important settings and cable connections before anything is moved
