Collection: Buyback HIBIKI series

Hibiki is Suntory's flagship blended whisky from Japan. Since 2018, the 17-year and 21-year expressions have faced shortages of raw whisky, and in 2024, the 30-year expression was announced to be limited edition. The secondary market value of the entire series has only risen in recent years. Hong Kang Trading specializes in acquiring the full Hibiki series, from Japanese Harmony and Master's Select to 17, 21, 30, and 35-year expressions; limited edition Arita-yaki and Kutani-yaki ceramic bottles are also appraised individually.

Special Considerations for Hibiki Series Valuation

  1. 17-Year Discontinued Batches: The 17-Year produced before mid-2018 is the most common. Batches after 2018 are considered the final batches. The "date of bottling" on the back label distinguishes earlier from later periods.
  2. Limited Edition Ceramic Bottles: For craft bottles like Arita-yaki, Kutani-yaki, and Kaga-yuzen, chips, cracks, or damage to the ceramic will significantly reduce the value (some collectors only consider bottles in perfect condition). Ribbons and brocade boxes are also crucial.
  3. Fill Level: Hibiki bottles stored for over 10 years often show a drop in fill level. Bottles with liquid below the shoulder will incur a 5-15% deduction.
  4. Back Label Serial Number: Early (green label) vs. recent (light green/grey label) back label designs differ, with some earlier versions commanding a 20-40% premium.

Recent Actual Transaction Sharing

Among the Hibiki expressions acquired in the past thirty days, unopened 21-year expressions with original wooden boxes fetched between HK$ 18,000-24,000; a Hibiki 30-year (2021 production) reached HK$ 78,000; and a perfectly preserved Kutani-yaki 30-year ceramic bottle set a new high for us this year at HK$ 105,000. Actual transaction prices are subject to inspection on the day of valuation.

Quick Answer: How are these items valued?

Hibiki buybacks are valued based on the age statement, box and certificate versions, and condition. There are significant price differences for the 17-year (discontinued in 2018), 21-year, 30-year, 35-year, and Arita-yaki/Kutani-yaki ceramic bottle limited editions. Discontinued years and complete wooden boxes with certificates usually command higher prices.

Discontinued Year Discontinued years, limited packaging, and distillery versions are judged separately.
Box, Certificate, Seal Original box, certificate, seal, fill level, and bottle bottom batch number should be clearly photographed.
Hong Kong Transactions Valuations are based on actual Hong Kong transactions and auction records, not online asking prices.

Common FAQs

Which Hibiki whisky has the highest resale value?

Hibiki 35 Year Old is the most premium in the series, commanding a very high resale price. This is followed by Hibiki 30 Year Old and Hibiki 21 Year Old Kacho Fugetsu Limited Edition, both of which have seen their auction prices steadily rise.

Does Hibiki Japanese Harmony (No Age Statement) have a resale value?

Yes, but as it's a current mass-produced item, its resale value is relatively limited. However, limited edition design bottles, such as special edition painted porcelain bottles, are a different story.

How much are Arita-yaki and Kutani-yaki special editions worth?

These versions, featuring traditional Japanese craft porcelain bottles, are produced in very small quantities and possess both aesthetic and collectible value. Their resale value depends on the specific version, condition, and market supply and demand. We recommend sending photos for an accurate valuation.

How do I sell my Hibiki whisky?

WhatsApp 94530784 with clear photos of the front of the bottle, the base, and the box, stating the volume and version. We will provide a quote within 15 minutes.

Do you offer door-to-door buyback services?

Yes. We cover Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. After an appointment, we can visit on the same day or the next. Upon inspection and satisfaction, payment will be settled on the spot, saving you the hassle of searching elsewhere.
