For vinyl records, label each item clearly and note label designs, runout inscriptions, place of release and catalogue number. Photograph front and back of the sleeve, both record labels, runout inscriptions and the disc under reflected light; do not rely on a nickname or one group photograph.

How should disc, label, sleeve and insert issues be documented for the vinyl record?

For vinyl records, show the item in full, then photograph the exact location of each issue and note surface scratches, warping, mould, sleeve condition and completeness of the inner sleeve. Do not use an unidentified cleaning fluid or attach a new label to the sleeve.
