Appraisal FAQ

Why should a Japanese-whisky list separate brand, distillery and expression?

Names such as Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki, Yoichi, Taketsuru and Chichibu represent different levels. Transcribe the brand, distillery, complete expression and bottling edition from each bottle.

What extra photographs are needed for a single-cask, limited or discontinued bottling?

Include the cask number, cask type, distillation or bottling year, bottle count, release market, bottler, batch and box details. Do not identify it from box colour or a market nickname.

How should several Japanese-whisky bottles be grouped?

Group first by Suntory, Nikka, Chichibu, Karuizawa, Hanyu or another brand or distillery, then create bottle labels by expression, year, volume and bottling edition.

What should be done when fill level, seal or original-box details differ?

Photograph every bottle’s fill level, seal, labels, bottle base and box. Do not remove seals, wipe or reglue labels, or pair packaging from another edition.
