“Sherry cask” is a broad market term. When creating a record, transcribe the brand label and product page exactly for terms such as “matured”, “finished”, “sherry seasoned”, the cask type and any stated duration.
Do not use the three groups of terms interchangeably

Regulations and product examples
The Scotch Whisky Association explains that Scotch whisky may be matured or finished in qualifying oak casks. The Macallan’s official Sherry Oak page specifically describes its sherry-seasoned oak casks.
- Record the official expression and regional regulations before recording the cask treatment.
- Colour, aroma or a market nickname is not enough to establish the cask history.
- If the product page gives no proportion of time, leave that field blank.

Does “sherry seasoned” mean “sherry finish”?
No. One describes how the cask was seasoned; the other describes transferring the whisky to a different cask for a later finishing stage.
Does a dark colour necessarily mean sherry-cask maturation?
No. Colour alone is not determinative; rely on the label and producer information.
